Job Title: Church Secretary (Part-time)
Position Overview:
Our church is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and personable individual to fill the role of Church Secretary. This key position is both congregation-facing and public-facing, requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Church Secretary will manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the church, provide support for church leadership, and act as the first point of contact for visitors and members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support: Manage office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, filing, and maintaining church records.
- Communication: Draft and send congregation-wide emails, newsletters, and other correspondence with a high level of professionalism and accuracy.
- Office Management: Oversee office operations, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficiency and organization.
- Event Coordination: Assist with light event planning, including coordinating church events, meetings, and activities with members, church council, and other congregations.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Maintain church calendars, schedule appointments, and liaise with church leadership and members to facilitate meetings and events.
- Project Assistance: Manage and complete varying projects as assigned, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Public Relations: Greet visitors, answer questions, and provide information about the church and its programs with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, approachable personality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Experience with filing systems and general office management.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to work with a diverse group of people.
- Previous experience in office administration or as an office manager preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with event planning or coordination.
- Knowledge of church operations or a willingness to learn about them.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms and communication tools.
Working Conditions:
This is an on-site position requiring 20-30 hours per week.
